Conferences

The Holocaust Documentation Center, Slovakia (HDC) in cooperation with the Museum of Jewish Culture Bratislava, Institute of Ethnology SAS and Yad Vashem are pleased to inform you about the upcoming international conference “Holocaust as a historical and moral problem of the past and presence: The current stage of research”. The
conference will be held in the Mojmírovce Castle located in the Nitra region, Slovakia, October 10-12, 2007.
The goal of the conference is to present results of current research on the Holocaust phenomenon by scholars from Slovakia as well as abroad.
Panellists delivering lectures on Slovak Holocaust will focus on the following topics:
1. Holocaust as a historical and moral problem of the Slovak society
2. Anti-Jewish legislation during the Slovak State 1938-1945
3. Jozef Tiso and Christian religions in the context of the final
solution of the Jewish question
4. Attitude of the Slovak majority population towards the solution of
the Jewish question in Slovakia.
5. The role of the Jewish Council within the Jewish community in Slovakia
6. Jewish labor and concentration camps on Slovak territory
7. Regional similarities of the Slovak Holocaust
8. The current state of Holocaust education at Slovak schools and
challenges ahead
9. Reflection of the Holocaust by the Jewish community in Slovakia after 1945
